A highly gifted Viennese child with a marked fascination for harmony and rhythm, Robert Werner received his first piano instruction at the age of four from his father, who had mastered fully nine instruments himself. He received his musical training in Vienna. The diversity he found in the City of Music thrilled the young Robert Werner – classical opera, lieder, jazz…

Training: Konservatorium der Stadt Wien, majoring in piano Course of study in Bratislava, majoring in lied and opera.

During his years of study, he began an intensive examination of all sorts of styles of popular music – jazz, rock, pop. As a result, Robert Werner made successful tours through Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Robert Werner took voice lessons with Kammersängers Hilde Zadek, James King, Gottfried Hornik and others. He intensified his jazz knowledge under Walter Hörler. His love for self-expression, for composing, was sparked by Heinz Neubrand, himself a versatile composer.

His path began as an ensemble member and soloist at the Vienna Raimundtheater with a focus on operettas and musicals. Four years later, he transferred to the Vienna State Opera, where for 25 years he was a fixed member of the Vienna State Opera Chorus with soloist responsibilities – including as a countertenor. Numerous concerts followed, with conductors including Herbert v. Karajan, Carlos Kleiber and Bertrand de Billy. Werner retired from the Vienna State Opera in 2008.

Already during his time at the Vienna State Opera, he began composing.
The first “Notebook” appeared in 2009.
His CD “Emotion” appeared in 1995.
His CD “Today, Tomorrow, Forever,” with many of his own compositions, appeared in 2010.
His music “Count Dracula,” with text by Myorah Middleton, was completed in 2013.
Robert Werner’s compositions include:
• Numerous commissioned works for Siegfried & Roy, Heiligenkreuz Abbey, José Carreras, Ernst Fuchs and others.
• Film music
• Music for figure skater Carolina Kostner (World Champion and 3rd place at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi)

His Royal Highness, bestseller author Dr. Prince Asfa-Wossen Asserate reads from his new works, accompanied musically by composer and pianist Robert Werner. The pieces he composed especially for the texts by Prince Asserate create a special atmosphere.

Performances in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, China. Robert Werner has a years-long tradition of performing as entertainer at the Vienna Philharmonic Ball.
